ABB LV Products Rolling Roadshow stops at home, on crisscross of the U.S.

2008-08-26 - (Rolling Roadshow Makes a Stop at the New Berlin Factory for an Employee Tour)

NEW BERLIN, WI, August 26, 2008 . . . Before leaving the Midwest, where the ABB Low Voltage Products Rolling Roadshows (trailers) stopped for bi-annual maintenance, one of the two rolling roadshows stopped at the ABB New Berlin campus for an employee tour.

Specifically, the stop was created in order for assemblers of ABB’s LV Drives to be able to see how the product they make are used in demonstrations to ABB prospects and customers. Sam Ryan, supervisor – Customer Configurations and Outbound Logistics made the request. “I felt it was important for our factory employees to see the drives they make every day in actual applications,” he said. “It closes the loop between factory and end-user applications.”

From Factory to Application

Over 100 employees were guided through the 20-foot trailer by ABB’s application engineers. They led the tour in groups of 10, and spent the time showcasing and demonstrating the application demos; these include: a triplex pump station, an energy saving fan system, a dynamometer, and a material-handling conveyor. Employees were able to interact with the demos and saw (some for the first time) the drives they make at work in an application.

This year, the demo trailers have spent multiple weeks in each of the 16 sales districts nationwide. LV Products sales channel partners report time and again that these trailers are the most effective tool they utilize in taking the LV products story to market. “The Rolling Road Show was a tremendous success this year in our district. We took the trailer for four weeks and the turn out was great -- over 900 customers,” said Carl Tuch, Senior District Manager for the Great Lakes District. “You can't put a price tag on this type of turnout - it was awesome.” To date, each LV Products demo trailer has travelled 20,000 miles -- and counting!

With each trailer arriving at the doorstep of nearly 250 customer sites weekly, approximately 5,500 prospects/customers have had the opportunity to see ABB firsthand -- and learn about the breadth of solutions ABB offers. Not only do ABB customers have the opportunity to view drives, controls and motors products, and see them in action right then and there, but, also, they have the opportunity to meet face to face with sales team and channel partner personnel, who offer invaluable expertise!
