ABB is showcasing its products and technologies that reflect pioneering technology spirit and expertise in the Internet of Things at the World Future Energy Summit 2017 in Abu Dhabi.
“We look forward to witnessing the next wave of innovations at the Middle East largest sustainability event, WFES. We, at ABB, believe that a digital economy integrated with digital utilities and industries will help create a sustainable nation which uses its resources responsibly,” said Frank Duggan, President, Asia, Middle East and Africa, ABB.
He added that ABB shares the UAE vision to build a future that’s smart, clean and sustainable. “Here in the Middle East – where we have been established since 1926 – we are technology partners for landmark projects like the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park, Burj Khalifa, Office of the Future, Dubai Metro to name a few,” he said.
The UAE is embracing sustainable transport by removing fuel subsidies and encouraging the use of electric and hybrid vehicles. The UAE Energy Plan 2050 highlights the target to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 70 per cent, increase clean energy use by 50 per cent and improve energy efficiency by 40 per cent by the middle of the century. One of the highlights at the ABB stand will be an Internet connected electric vehicle (EV) charger, which enables fast global service and pro-active maintenance. ABB has years of experience in creating, installing and maintaining charging infrastructure, including several nationwide charger networks.
ABB hopes to walk hand-in-hand with the UAE in transforming the country further into a modern yet sustainable economy. ABB participates in energy events across the world including World Economic Forum (WEF), COP 22, and partners with initiatives like Solar Impulse to champion technology as key to economic and environmental goals. ABB is also a proud winner of the Zayed Future Energy Prize in 2014 under the ‘Large Corporation’ category.
The World Future Energy Summit (WFES), part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, celebrates its 10-year anniversary in 2017. ABB is at the WFES from 16 – 19 January, hall 5 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), Abu Dhabi, UAE. All information about ABB at WFES ‘17 can be accessed here.
