ABB supplies mobile switchgear modules for oil extraction and refining industry in Iraq

2012-11-22 - The five multifunctional hybrid switchgear modules that are mounted on skids and ready to use have been supplied by ABB to a LUKoil project in Iraq in collaboration with Samsung Engineering.

LUKoil is the largest oil company in Russia and amongst the largest in the world. ABB's unique hybrid switchgear PASS (Plug and Switch System) modules have been installed in a number of LUKoil sites in Russia and Kazakhstan. LUKoil's current project in Iraq is being executed by Samsung Engineering. ABB will supply five PASS M0 H modules for this project.

The PASS M0 H is a multifunctional module (MFM), with SF6 insulation designed for making connections to the high voltage network with H configuration. The modules are the complete high-voltage part of a substation since they include circuit-breakers, disconnectors, surge arresters, and current and voltage transformers. The innovative MFM concept for designing and constructing substations consists of a range of PASS modules which are pre-assembled and tested in the factory. These compact modules are also easy to transport and install.

The MFM technology reduces electrical and civil engineering activities to a minimum in the substation. It also reduces logistics and the number of man-hours needed for electromechanical assembly work and on-site testing, thereby minimizing costs and the risks of interference related to such activities. Fully assembled and tested in the factory and suitable for both temporary and permanent installations, the M0 H modules are easily transported using normal commercial means without special loads requirements
