2009-04-16 - ABB is presenting a range of innovative technologies that improve energy efficiency at this year’s Hannover Messe in Germany, one of the world’s largest trade fairs, and will appear for the first time at a fair under the company’s new visual identity.
The fair’s focus on power and automation – ABB’s two main areas of expertise – make the event an ideal opportunity for ABB to present its entire portfolio. From April 20 to 24, ABB specialists will be on hand at an imposing stand in Hall 11 for meetings and discussions with other experts in the fields of power and automation, with customers and with students.
ABB capabalities
ABB is showing technologies that improve reliability, increase industrial productivity and save energy for customers in a wide range of segments including utilities and grid-system operators, as well as machinery and other industries.
“With its focus on energy efficiency and lowering environmental impact, the fair is once again a tailor-made opportunity for ABB to display its capabilities,” said Peter Smits, head of ABB in Germany and manager of the company’s Central Europe region.

One of the highlights of ABB’s 1,750 square-meter stand is a presentation of the company’s portfolio for renewable energy industries. Several reference projects in the areas of solar, wind and hydro power are presented to bring to life ABB’s competence as a supplier of products and systems for these industries.
ABB innovations
A number of new products will also be on show, including the Resibloc 99-Plus dry-type transformer, which reduces energy losses under full load by as much as 32 percent, and the AC 500-eCo, the youngest member of ABB’s programmable logic controller (PLC) family, as an economic mini control system that can be adapted to individual requirements thanks to its scalability and platform concept.
The new ABB Life Cycle Index for control system installations, also presented at Hannover Messe, enables the productivity status of plant automation to be evaluated over the entire life-cycle. ABB will also be showing a host of solutions to help utilities build “smarter” power networks, in which they have more control over power flows and can therefore accommodate more renewable sources of power.
ABB is presenting the new design for its trade-fair stands worldwide at the Hannover Messe.
ABB’s stand is among the largest at the fair and will present the company under the new branding for the first time at such an event. The concept for the stand’s design has been been developed over a period of several months to strengthen the visual impact of ABB’s presence and create a modular arrangement that can be applied to trade-fair stands of any size. It was developed in a joint effort between global and local teams.
