ABB officially launched the first fast-charging station for electric vehicles in the city of Plovdiv. Installed in the car park of the ABB plant in the Rakovski industrial zone, it is now available for public use.

The installation has been designed to facilitate electric transportation between Plovdiv and Sofia, considerably reducing the charging time. Terra 53 CGJ is compatible with all CHAdeMO, CCS and Type 2 AC electric vehicles on the Bulgarian market with typical charging times ranging between 15-60 minutes, depending on the capacity of the separate car battery.

“ABB is genuinely committed to developing the fast-charging infrastructure across Bulgaria, and we’re viewing this installation as a way to encourage both people and companies to increase their use of electric vehicles. The charging station will facilitate easier and more environmentally friendly travel between the ABB production units in Rakovski and the main office in Sofia, but will also enable private electric vehicle owners to travel freely,” said Ekkehard Neureither, Country Managing Director for ABB in Bulgaria.

The Terra 53 multi-standard DC charging station is a configurable single, dual or triple outlet 50 kW fast charging station, suitable for operation in extreme weather conditions from - 35 degrees to + 55 Celsius. The Terra 53 is ideal for use at highway rest stops, petrol stations, car dealerships and busy urban areas, such as public car parks.

Remote condition monitoring and remote troubleshooting are important advantages of ABB chargers. By connecting chargers, service solutions and people, ABB is able to diagnose more than 90 percent of service cases remotely, solving over 60 percent of these cases without any site intervention over the past two years. This results in significant savings on downtime, traveling, transportation, man-hours, and resources.
