ABB showcases leading-edge power generation solutions at PGI 2016 in Orlando

Symphony® Plus technology on display underlines ABB’s leadership in distributed control systems and its digital credentials.

Orlando, Florida, December 12, 2016 – ABB will present its complete portfolio of solutions for the power generation industry at this year’s Power Gen International 2016, held in Orlando, Florida on December 13-15. This annual event is the industry leader, providing coverage of the trends, technologies and issues facing the generation sector. ABB will hold a number of conference presentations and highlight leading-edge technologies and products at booth #2218, which enable power generators and operators to optimize project costs, manage plants and generate energy efficiently.

Among the showcased technologies, ABB will present its Symphony Plus control system, thanks to which ABB has been recognized as the world’s number one supplier of distributed control systems (DCS) in the power generation segment. Symphony Plus follows an ‘evolution without obsolescence’ approach of introducing new technology with enhanced benefits while protecting long-term investments by ensuring full compatibility with existing installations. Furthermore, this control system adds value for customers by carefully collecting, analyzing and providing actionable insights on plant and engineering data in their systems, ultimately allowing them to lower project risk, reduce cost and throughput times and improve asset performance and profitability.

“Around a third of the 70 million devices connected to ABB control systems are for power generation control. In addition, ABB has the leading installed base of digital control systems in power generation – putting us in a primary position to write our future together with our customers,” said Kevin Kosisko, Managing Director of ABB’s Power Generation and Water business unit. “With our vast DCS installed base, wealth of expertise and application know-how, and globally recognized technology, we are able to help customers react to dynamic global trends, improve their operations and ultimately their business.”
