The Network Manager data acquisition function manages the communication with RTUs, IEDs and substation automation devices in supervisory control systems. It provides a rich set of functions combined with flexibility, performance and scalability in a cost-effective solution.
The PCU400 supports international standardized communication protocols and multiple RTU types. It further supports a variety of communication structures e.g. redundant lines.
Integrated Wide Area Monitoring function (WAMS) that offers robust and scalable phasor data concentration and signalprocessing, a time series, and optional control of FACTS devices.
Features:
- Handles a wide range of standard and proprietary protocols
- Periodic scanning of RTUs and scan groups; different scan rates for cyclic protocols
- Reduces SCADA server I/O overhead; large amounts of data in a single block
- Connected to the SCADA server via LAN or WAN, using the TCP/IP protocol; capable of dual LAN connection
- Performs dead-band based report-by-exception of data when sent to the server.
- Converts protocol-dependent RTU replies to a protocol-independent format, which isolates the server from protocol specifics
- Downloads point/RTU/scan group database from the server at start-up
- Standard information exchange protocols supported include DNP 3.0, IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104
