Production Planning controls the full spectrum of production planning tasks in a paper or board mill. The tight system integration enables dynamic Available-To-Promise, Capable-To-Promise, and Profitable-To-Promise information. Using production allocation and inventory data along with real-time production schedules order commitments can be made with confidence.
Visualizations in the system make it easy to identify the current production plan and available machine capacities. The system alerts the production planner of conditions, such as late orders, that require special attention. Possible bottleneck and overload situations are indicated in advance. In the case of an order change or unplanned production upset, the production planner can easily re-optimize the production schedule to respond to the customer dynamics in the best possible way. Cost-effects of any schedule changes can be compared to each other.
The multi-mill optimization provides the best possible planning solution on an enterprise-wide basis. It enables the head office to optimally place orders to the mills based on agreed production cycles, order fulfillment dates, and transport distances.
The trim optimization includes up to three production steps; winding, rewinding and sheeting in finding the most beneficial trim solution. The solution supports a variety of control parameters, including maximum number of rolls per set, quantity and width of small rolls, edge roll restrictions, and multiple rolls per pack. These parameters allow effective and accurate control of the optimization process.
