ABB has played a major role in the railway industry for decades. Based on its long traditions within power and automation systems, the company has introduced a high quality Signalling System that allows flexible and efficient operations on the modern railway network.

ABBs’ turnkey solutions provided for railway Signalling include Electronic Interlocking (called MERKUR) and Centralized Traffic Control. Our failsafe MERKUR can be used worldwide in many different application areas, which gives our customers many benefits.
An open architecture system allows easy adaptation into other equipment plus ERTMS integration. Installation of new Signalling Systems and the upgrading of existing ones is done effectively and step by step. CENELEC standards are an integral part of the design, meeting SIL-4.
