Products Directive (ATEX 95)

The Products Directive ATEX 95 defines the Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSRs) applicable to equipment, such as a motor, which is to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres containing gas or combustible dust.

To be certified according to ATEX 95 the equipment shall be classified in one of the three categories. For the motors only Category 2 and 3 apply. In the Products Directive the notion of zones does not exist, as it is replaced by the category.
