Operational reliability and consistent product quality solved by an industrial drive
In the rubber mixing process different additives and vulcanising agents are added to the rubber compounds. The process can be repeated several times depending on the recipe, and one mixing cycle normally takes around 5 minutes. After the mixing cycles the rubber is ready for further process steps, such as tyre making.
AC Drives can be used in the rubber mixer, extruder, calender and cooling fan.

The rubber mixing process
Rubber Mixer
Rubber mixer demands high starting torque as the rubber lumps are pushed into the mixing chamber between moving rotors. The mass created is heated and mixed. The dough is stiff and elastic and this makes mixing hard work.
The recipe calls for the mixing speed to vary during the mixing process in order to get the best result. The recipes for the different products come from the external process control system, and therefore easy connection into that is important.
The features of the rubber compound depend on the additives, the mixing temperature and speed. This means that speed control is a critical factor in the quality of the rubber compound. Furthermore, accurate speed control allows the speed to be increased in less critical phases and this raises productivity.
