CIMAC CASCADES at ETH Zurich

At the 3rd CIMAC CASCADES the participants had the opportunity to get a closer look at the Wärtsilä Diesel Technology Center in Winterthur. The full-size two-stroke motor was of great interest. A good relationship with Wärtsilä enabled us to show the TPL69 cutaway model in the motor hall.

After the detailed and interesting presentation, the participants used a shuttle bus to board the vessel „MS Uetliberg“. The weather was initially good, but after a short while it unfortunately changed to a real summer storm. In spite of the weather change all participants were offered an excellent meal on the inside of the vessel so that they could continue their „networking“ in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

The following day, the participants took part in a seminar at the ETH Zurich that was themed, « Towards the Elastic Engine – Developing Major Engine Systems in the Digital Age ». A total of nine presentations were given throughout the one-day event, all communicating outstanding technical information relative to the seminar theme. Melanie Hubacher, Development Engineer ZTA-1 from ABB Turbo Systems, presented interesting details about « Valve Control Management for Optimal SCR Operation ».

Furthermore, a lot of personal contacts were established at our HR-recruiting booth. To put it in a nutshell: The trainee-programmes were very informative for the young engineers. We shall look forward to meeting them again in the near future at our company in Baden/Switzerland.
