The ABB dry capacitor is oil free, which means there is no risk of environmentally hazardous leaks or toxic spillage on site, which eliminates the need to build extra spillage sewers or collectors. In the unlikely event of a fire, there are no flammable fluids to spread the fire. Manufacturing and transport is also more environment friendly as there is no handling of chemicals and impregnation fluids.
Compact design

In VSC (Voltage Source Converter) based ABB applications such as HVDC Light and SVC Light, where high converter power requires more stored energy, a smaller high energy density capacitor helps cut both the overall size and cost.
