ABB has delivered more than 1,600 km of this type of submarine cable. When we installed the 55 km long 84 kV cable between Åland and Sweden in 1973 it was a world record in length and power. Our submarine XLPE cables has since then been installed all over the world - as for example in the US, in the Croatian archipelago and between the Channel Islands and the French mainland. The knowledge we have acquired from submarine cable projects worldwide, is extremely useful for offshore installations like wind farms and oil/gas platforms.
XLPE submarine cables:
