The complete solution for controlling and monitoring capacitors on distribution systems
The efficiency of transmission and distribution systems can be appreciably improved by operating the system at a near unity power factor. This increases real power availability and improves the economics related to power handling. Capacitors are the simplest and most cost effective way of improving power factor. Capacitor banks are commonly used to reduce reactive impedance fluctuations on transmission lines.
There are two model ranges of CQ900:
CQ900L
The CQ900L is a stand-alone controller where the unit automatically monitors and switches based on real time network conditions.
CQ900R
The CQ900R has the same standard features as the CQ900L but with the addition of DNP3 two-way communication modules for remote control through the SCADA system and/or Centrallized Volt-Var Management System.
The exclusive “ABB Cap Link” short range radio allows local communication with a laptop/PC without touching the unit (up to 150 feet range). Can communicate with unit from service truck regardless of weather.
DNP3.0 communication via RS232 and Ethernet interfaces allows complete control of the unit over remote networks using a wide range of modem devices. The unit will automatically falls back to “local auto” mode if remote comms are lost.
Both the CQ900L and CQ900R utilize a USB connection for programming and data log transfer with laptop or PC.
