RobotStudio Overview

CAD Import
RobotStudio can easily import data in major CAD formats including IGES, STEP, VRML, VDAFS, ACIS and CATIA. By working with this very exact data, the robot programmer is able to generate more accurate robot programs, giving higher product quality.

AutoPath™
This is one of the most time-saving features in RobotStudio. By using a CAD-model of the part to be processed, it is possible to automatically generate the robot positions needed to follow the curve in just a few minutes, a task that otherwise would take hours or days.

Program Editor
The program editor (ProgramMaker) generates robot programs and helps you to develop and maintain robot programs offline in a Windows environment. The programming time is drastically reduced and the program structure is improved.

Path Optimization
RobotStudio can automatically detect and warn about programs that include motions in close vicinity to singularities, so that measures can be taken to avoid such conditions. Simulation Monitor is a visual tool for optimizing robot movement. Red lines indicate what targets you can improve to make the robot move in the most effective way. It is possible to optimize TCP speed, acceleration, singularity or axes to gain cycle time.

Autoreach™
Autoreach automatically analyses reachability and is a handy feature that let's you simply move the robot or the work piece around until all positions are reachable. This allows you to verify and optimize the work cell layout in just a few minutes.

Virtual Teach Pendant
This is a graphical representation of the real teach pendant, powered by the VirtualRobot. Essentially, everything that can be done on the real teach pendant can be done in the virtual teach pendant (QuickTeach™) making this is a great teaching and training tool.

Event Tables
This is an ideal tool for verifying your program structure and logic. As your program executes, you can visually see the I/O states of your work cell. The I/Os can be wired to simulation events allowing simulation of the robot and all equipment in the robot station. This is a great tool for debugging.

Collision Detection
Collision detection prevents costly damage to your equipment. By selecting objects concerned, RobotStudio will automatically monitor and indicate if they collide when a robot program is executed.

Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
Use VBA to adapt and expand RobotStudio's functionality. VBA enables you to create powerful add-on, macros or custom user interfaces to meet your organization's needs.

PowerPac's
ABB and partners have used VBA to design applicaitons on top of RobotStudio to optimize it for specific applications such as arcwelding, press break tending, spotwelding, CalibWare (absolute accuracy), blade grinding, and BendWizard (press brake tending).

True Upload and Download
Your whole robot program can be downloaded to the real system without any translation. This is a unique feature thanks to the VirtualRobot technology that is a technique only provided by ABB.
