The high reliability of an IT system is guaranteed by a continuous monitoring of the resistance between the system and the earth potential. An insulation monitoring of the CM-IWx range recognizes these so called insulation faults and trips as soon as the measured value of the resistance between the system and earth potential falls below the set threshold. By using an insulation monitoring relay already the first insulation fault will be detected and can be fixed before a second fault occurs and forces the IT system to switch off.
The highly sophisticated CM-S and CM-N ranges in ABB’s new S and N range housings offers two different types of connection terminals and is ideally suited for universal use. Double-chamber cage connection terminals make it possible to connect wires up to 2 x 2.5 mm2
(2 x 14 AWG), rigid or fine-strand, with or without ferrules. Potential distribution does not require additional terminals.

Innovative push-in connection terminals for tool-free installation. The connection is gas-proof and has the same direction as the double-chamber cage connection terminals.
ABB developed a completely new range of insulation monitors for AC, DC or mixed AC/DC IT Systems up to 690 V AC or 1000 V DC. With only 4 devices most standard applications can be served.
NEW: A new version of insulation monitors CM-IWN.x dedicated for bigger solar applications with higher earth leakage capacitances up to 2000 µF is available. In combination with the coupling unit CM-IVN systems up to 690 V AC and 1000 V DC can be monitored.
CM-IWS.2 is used in pure AC systems up to 250 V AC. With a measuring range from 1 to 100 kOhm, 1 c/o (SPDT) output contact, open circuit principle, as well as test and reset possibilities it is a very compact solution in 22.5 mm.
These devices can be used in pure AC systems up to 400 V AC or in pure DC systems up to 300 V DC but also in mixed AC/DC systems. The products feature a measuring resistance from 1 to 100k Ohm, 1 c/o (SPDT) output contact, open circuit principle, test and reset possibilities.
CM-IWN units are used in pure AC systems up to 400 V AC or in pure DC systems up to 600 V DC or in mixed AC/DC systems. Two threshold values and the operating principle are adjustable.
