Functionality
The Panel 800 does have a rich set of functionality which makes it suitable for advanced panel solutions. Following functionality is available:

Displays
The high-resolution TFT displays used in Panel 800 works in almost all light conditions and are viewable from very wide angels. The displays use a depth of 64K colors and both gradients and true type fonts can be applied in the graphics. The resolution differs from 640*480 to up to 1024*768 pixels (depending on the panel size), but each display ensures stunning detail richness. The Panel 800 units are available in five sizes, spanning from 6,5” up to 15” size.
Platform
The software platform is based on Windows CE and offers market leading overall performance. All panels are equipped with an Intel Xscale 416 MHz RISC CPU and no less than 96 Mbytes of memory (RAM and Flash). The available application memory is set to 12 Mbytes, but is expandable via the built in Compact Flash slot.
Communication
All panels come with a number of communication ports. The RS232 and RS485/422 cover the need for most serial protocols. Furthermore a 10/100 Mbit Ethernet card is built in. Also a USB host port is ready for use, which makes it easy to connect a mouse or keyboard to the Panel 800.
The Panel 800 is designed specifically for ABB Control Network and AC 800M controllers, giving users the advantage of a common network for controllers, HMI and engineering. In addition to the Control Network driver, Panel 800 offers an extensive driver library, making it compatible with all ABB legacy control systems, all previous versions of Process Panel, and most makes of PLC. The dual protocol capability enables two different brands of PLC to be connected simultaneously to the panel. Critical information like alarms, text reports, trend data and recipes can be accessed by remote, and alarms transmitted to the operator by e-mail or SMS.
