TEST LABORATORY: TEST & CERTIFY

Our test offering

Short-Circuit

ABB tests low and medium voltage apparatus under high current and voltage conditions to ensure safety and performance. Four synchronous generators supply three short-circuit testing bays with 3,450 MVA total installed power. Maximum performance: 200 kA @ 600 V AC | 100 kA @ 3,000 V DC | 25 kA @ 24 kV.

Experimental

The Experimental Test Lab validates low voltage devices under operational and extreme conditions including temperature rise, overload duration, and endurance. Real-world challenges such as vibrations, extreme temperatures, and operational cycles are simulated to validate product reliability.

Electronic

ABB's Electronic Test Laboratory simulates real-world electrical conditions and extreme stress using high-accuracy generators, multi-channel calibrators, and climatic chambers. Tests cover electromagnetic interference, harmonics, and environmental factors.

Material

The Material Testing Lab validates new plastic and metal materials for reliability, durability, and compliance with sustainability requirements. Tests include fire resistance, corrosion, thermal behavior, and mechanical durability.

Environmental Reliability

Specialized test areas evaluate apparatus behaviour under accelerated life conditions including corrosive environments, thermal ageing, thermal shock, vibrations, and combined HALT/HASS cycles.

The ABB Test Laboratory in Bergamo is recognised by the following certification bodies, enabling global market access for tested and certified products:
