This platform has been integrated into the Stonehouse facility as part of a comprehensive energy management system designed to enhance energy efficiency by 20% compared to a 2019 baseline. 

 

At Stonehouse, a PAMA (Process Automation Measurement and Analytics) site, flowmeters, and other devices for the continuous analysis of gas and water treatment are manufactured. ABB’s expertise in flow measurement and calibration, and in the specification, operation, and maintenance of flow metering equipment at the site goes back 50 years.

ABB Ability™ Building Analyzer: Driven by Data

ABB’s commitment to the EP100 initiative includes establishing energy management systems across its global facilities by 2030.  

 

The strategy at ABB Stonehouse involves deploying the ABB Ability™ Building Analyzer as part of a broader energy management platform. Building Analyzer provides comprehensive tracking of energy consumption, encompassing various points of electricity, gas, and water usage throughout the factory. 

 

The solution integrates multiple devices and systems connected to Building Analyzer, displaying data from numerous sources in a user-friendly interface. This allows personnel to monitor and analyze utility consumption in real-time, applying actionable insights to save money and improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant awareness. 

Building Analyzer helped identify several important opportunities for improvement:

  • Hot water heater optimization
  • Canteen heating settings
  • Optimizing air compressor usage
  • Large calibration pump operation
  • Christmas deep shutdown: A smart energy-saving strategy

In addition to the primary energy-saving measures outlined above the factory implemented several supplementary initiatives to further reduce energy consumption.
