Demand for power outlets has increased dramatically over recent decades. While a typical household operated just 10–15 electrical devices in 1970, today that number has grown to 50–70. Digital devices, entertainment electronics, and homeoffice work continue to drive this rise. This development is reflected in DIN 180151:2020, which recommends significantly more sockets per room than in the past: <ul> <li>8–12 sockets in the kitchen </li> <li>10–15 in living areas </li> <li>6–8 in bedrooms </li> </ul> With more people working from home, requirements such as USB charging and reduced standby consumption have become increasingly important. In many existing buildings, however, adding extra sockets can be challenging. Extension strips and multiple sockets increase the risk of overload, while new flush mounted installations require construction work—often not possible in rented apartments. This is where surface mounted solutions for Busch Balance® SI provide an ideal alternative: easy to retrofit and visually aligned with existing interiors.

Flat Surface Mounted Housing The flat surface‑mounted housing expands an existing socket outlet with additional connections. With a height of just 43 mm and installation on an ISO switch box, a single existing socket can be quickly extended into a triple socket unit.   Surface‑Mounted Housing The standard surface‑mounted housings for Busch‑Balance® SI allow additional sockets to be added using existing flush‑mounted or ISO installation boxes. They are perfect for renovations and retrofits where the building fabric should remain untouched. Both alpine white and matt black versions are available to match the design of the series.   Double Socket Outlet with USB The double socket with integrated USB charging combines power supply and device charging in one element. Installed directly in an existing recessed wall box, it enhances functionality without requiring new cable routes. This makes it ideal for home offices, kitchens, and frequently used working areas. Available in white or black, it fits seamlessly with Busch‑Balance® SI and future® linear ranges.   Surface‑Mounted Housing for Corner Installation The corner‑mounted housing can be installed horizontally beneath wall cabinets or vertically in niches and furniture corners. This places sockets exactly where appliances are used while keeping work surfaces clear. The corner housing is available in alpine white or matt black.
