FURSE® EARTH BARS FOR EARTHING PROTECTION
ABB's Furse earth bars deliver a reliable and easily maintained common earth point for earthing and lightning protection installations, with integral disconnecting links enabling straightforward isolation of individual earth conductors for periodic testing and system verification. Manufactured in Nottingham from high conductivity hard drawn copper or tinned copper bar, the range covers 6 way to 30 way configurations with uPVC channel bases, stainless steel fixing options and a full suite of accessories to accommodate any installation requirement.
A COMMON EARTH POINT THAT MAKES TESTING SIMPLER
A correctly designed and installed earthing system is only as reliable as its ability to be tested, maintained and verified over its operational lifetime. ABB's Furse earth bars are purpose built to address this requirement, providing a convenient and accessible common earth connection point for all earthing conductors in a building, structure or installation, while integral disconnecting links allow individual conductors to be isolated from the bar for periodic earth resistance testing without disturbing the wider earthing system.
ABB offers three standard earth bar designs to meet the majority of installation requirements. The LK245 series is a straightforward earth bar without a disconnecting link, suitable for permanent equipotential bonding applications. The LK243 series incorporates a single disconnecting link to allow isolation and testing of the primary incoming earth conductor, and the LK207 series features twin disconnecting links for installations requiring independent isolation of two earth conductors within the same bar assembly. All three designs are available in bare copper or tinned copper hard drawn bar with a 50 mm wide by 6 mm thick cross section, M10 termination screws and a high impact uPVC channel base that is fully corrosion proof and lighter to handle than the traditional galvanized steel channel it replaces. Stainless steel fixing variants of the LK245, LK243 and LK207 series are available in 6 way to 12 way sizes for installations requiring enhanced corrosion resistance. Swan-neck link, disconnecting link and insulator accessories complete the range, and ABB's Furse team can design and manufacture custom earth bars with bespoke dimensions, bolt configurations, numbers of disconnecting links and insulator arrangements for applications not covered by the standard range.
KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

ABB's Furse earth bars are designed and manufactured at the Furse facility in Nottingham, United Kingdom, where Furse has been producing earthing and lightning protection solutions for over 130 years. ABB offers a complete range of earth bar configurations, accessories and custom design services to support any earthing installation, from standard building distribution boards to specialist industrial, renewable energy and infrastructure applications.

Easy installation

Pre-drilled fixing holes in the uPVC channel base allow quick and straightforward wall mounting using countersunk wood screws and wall plugs, M10 termination screws with a tightening torque of 20 Nm accept a wide range of earthing conductor sizes, and the lightweight polymer channel base reduces handling effort during installation compared to traditional galvanized steel channel products.
Durable

High conductivity hard drawn copper bar in a 50 mm wide by 6 mm thick section delivers long-term electrical and mechanical performance, the fully corrosion proof high impact uPVC channel base eliminates the degradation associated with galvanized steel channel in damp or corrosive environments, and stainless steel fixing variants provide enhanced corrosion resistance for the most demanding installation conditions.
Comprehensive range

Standard configurations include plain earth bar (LK245, 6 way to 30 way), earth bar with single disconnecting link (LK243, 6 way to 30 way) and earth bar with twin disconnecting links (LK207, 6 way to 30 way), all available in bare or tinned copper with standard or stainless steel fixings, and complemented by swan-neck links, standalone disconnecting links and a range of insulators from 20 mm to 70 mm height for specialist mounting configurations.
Flexible

Integral disconnecting links on the LK243 and LK207 series enable individual earth conductors to be isolated from the common earth point for periodic resistance testing and system verification without disconnecting or disturbing the wider earthing installation, simplifying compliance with the inspection and testing requirements of BS 7430 and IEC/BS EN 62305.
Customizable

ABB's Furse team can design and manufacture custom earth bars for applications not covered by the standard range, with bespoke variables including bar dimensions, bolt and washer size and type, number and position of disconnecting links, number of insulators and choice of mounting base or base-free supply, with designs provided for customer review and approval before manufacture.
Corrosion resistant

Tinned copper bar variants provide enhanced surface protection against oxidation and atmospheric corrosion for installations in coastal, industrial or high humidity environments, while stainless steel fixing variants of the LK245SS, LK243SS and LK207SS series offer maximum resistance to corrosion in the most aggressive installation conditions.
Compliant

Certifications include BS 7430 (Code of practice for protective earthing of electrical installations) for all standard and stainless steel fixing variants across the complete LK245, LK243 and LK207 series.
INDUSTRIES WE SUPPORT
