ABB Relion REC615
ABB Relion REC615 is a freely configurable all-in-one protection and control relay for recloser applications in overhead line networks. The ABB Relion REC615 is a grid automation relay for protection and control, monitoring, fault indication, automation, and power quality analysis in medium-voltage secondary distribution systems, including networks with distributed power generation, with secondary equipment such as medium-voltage disconnectors, switches, ring main units and reclosers.
The design of the ABB Relion REC615 relay has been guided by the IEC 61850 and ANSI standards for communication and interoperability of substation automation devices.
ABB’s protection and control relays are available for original equipment manufacturers (OEM), panel builders and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPCs) partners to incorporate in their own installations or for use in repair, retrofit and upgrade projects.
The ABB Relion REC615 relays feature a draw-out-type design with a variety of mounting methods, compact size and ease of use. REC615 offers two different relay size variants, standard and wide. Relay size variant and module content can be selected according to application needs. Relay application functionality can be selected independently from the selected hardware content according to the protection application needs. ABB Relion REC615 leverages the same configuration software as all ABB Relion protection and control products.

Yes. The standard‑size Relion REC615 has identical mechanical dimensions to REC615 and RER615 relays, while the wide‑size Relion REC615 has identical dimensions to RER620. Hardware dimensions and mounting kits are the same.
Yes. REC615 standard offers the same analog and binary channels as REC/RER615, and REC615 wide offers the same channel capabilities as RER620. No wiring adapters are required.
REC615 supports protection and control applications, including recloser control. It can be used with ABB reclosers such as OVR‑15, OVR‑27, OVR‑38 and GridShield.
Yes. REC615 supports multiple SCADA communication protocols, including IEC 61850, IEC 101/104, DNP3 and Modbus. An external radio or modem may be required depending on the communication method.
