ABB Relion REJ603

A self-powered protection relay for the protection of utility substations and industrial power distribution systems in secondary distribution.

ABB Relion REJ603

ABB Relion REJ603 is a self-powered protection relay for the protection of utility substations and industrial power distribution systems in secondary distribution. It is a current-transformer-powered protection relay for applications where auxiliary power is not available or cannot be guaranteed. An ideal choice for installation at remote locations. The relay is often used in ring main units and secondary distribution switchgear within distribution networks.

ABB Relion REJ603 leverages the same configuration software as all ABB Relion protection and control products. ABB’s protection relays are available for original equipment manufacturers (OEM), panel builders and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPCs) partners to incorporate in their own installations or for use in new, retrofit or upgrade projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

The REJ603 is a self-powered feeder protection relay designed for secondary distribution networks. It is typically used in utility substations, industrial power systems, ring main units (RMUs), and secondary switchgear to ensure reliable protection of feeders and transformers.

The REJ603 draws its operating power directly from current transformers (CTs), eliminating the need for an external auxiliary power supply. This makes it ideal for remote or unmanned installations where auxiliary power may not be available.

The relay provides essential protection functions including multi-stage overcurrent protection, earth-fault protection, transformer inrush detection, and thermal overload protection for feeders, cables, and transformers.

The REJ603 comes with pre-configured functionality, allowing for fast and straightforward commissioning. Only application-specific parameters need to be set, making it simple to deploy in both new and retrofit projects.

Yes. Its self-powered design and robust construction make it well suited for demanding environments, including unmanned substations and remote locations. It also operates reliably across a wide temperature range and environmental conditions.

Yes. The relay includes features such as disturbance recording, event logging, and clear visual indications via LEDs and flags. These capabilities help operators quickly analyze faults and improve network reliability.

REF601 is a feeder protection and control relay with communication capabilities, designed for applications where auxiliary power is available, and system integration is required. REJ603 is a self-powered feeder protection relay designed for remote or unmanned installations where auxiliary power is not available.

REJ603 is designed as an essential feeder protection solution with simple configuration and fast commissioning. For applications requiring greater flexibility, communication, and automation capabilities, ABB offers more advanced protection relays, such as REX615 and REX640.
