Elastimold® Switchgear Small-Vault
ABB Elastimold small‑vault switchgear provides compact, submersible molded vacuum configurations for tight vault applications.
Decades of proven performance
ABB’s Elastimold small-vault switchgear is engineered for tight vault environments with sealed, submersible EPDM construction and modular switching. Dead-front safety and field-upgradeable configurations make it ideal for replacing older oil or air switchgear with a compact solid dielectric platform.
Key Features and Benefits

Assembled, tested and shipped from Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA, ABB's Elastimold small-vault switchgear delivers sealed, submersible solid dielectric performance in space-constrained underground environments without oil or SF6 gas. Field-upgradeable and virtually maintenance-free, it supports utilities replacing aging infrastructure while helping reduce environmental impact and long-term operational costs.

Small footprint

Fitting into tight vaults, a small footprint and modularity make it easier to move the components into the vault and assemble them once inside.
Submersible

Sealed and fully submersible to 10 feet (3 meters).
Flexible

Modular, component-based design is made of individual switch and interrupter components up to 35kV. These can be combined in an unlimited number of ways and configurations for extreme flexibility.
Safe

Dead-front construction eliminates exposed live parts and reduces arc flash risk. Available with the optional ABB Tru-Break™ switchgear module, allowing utility crews to visually verify circuit isolation and safely ground the de-energized line before performing maintenance.
Cost-effective

Without oil or SF6 gas, there is virtually no maintenance required. This helps lower the total cost of ownership for the life of the switchgear.
Corrosion-resistant

Submersible, corrosion-resistant and fully shielded.
Reliable

Made with a proprietary EPDM rubber formulation that has been tested and trusted in the field for over 50 years on a solid-dielectric platform. With a silicone diaphragm, it uses air as an insulating medium.
Industries We Support
