Smarter cooling for tough conditions
ABB’s flange-mounted drives offer a compact, reliable solution for industrial and infrastructure applications exposed to dust, humidity, and extreme temperatures. Designed for push-through (flange) installation, the drive's heatsink is mounted outside the cabinet wall, while only the control section remains inside. This design separates the airflow between the control electronics and the heatsink, significantly reducing the heat load within the cabinet.
With less internal heat, your electrical enclosure can be designed with smaller cooling fans, fewer filters, and reduced need for air conditioning systems—resulting in savings on space, cost, and energy. The IP55-rated (UL Type 12) flange and heatsink ensure robust protection against dust and low-pressure water, making this solution ideal for harsh environments like mining, oil & gas, rubber, textiles, and even HVAC, water, and wastewater sectors.
Product availability
Flange mounting is available for a wide range of ABB drives, including ACS880 industrial drives, as well as ACH580-31 and ACQ580-31 variants for HVAC and water applications. Offered as a standard or plus code option depending on the drive type, this robust installation method helps simplify cabinet design and improve reliability in harsh environments.
