ABB Baldor-Reliance® braking and motion control solutions combine high-efficiency brake motors with a complete offering of industrial clutches and brakes to deliver precise stopping, holding and controlled motion across demanding applications. Our NEMA Premium® brake motors feature spring-set brakes mounted opposite the drive end to maintain standard BA dimensions, with easy-access brake coils for seamless integration with variable-speed drives, they enhance performance and cut costs. Paired with a full line of clutches and brakes designed for reliable load control in conveyor, packaging, palletizing and material-handling systems, this family provides a coordinated, dependable solution for safe and accurate motion control.

Load control

A spring-set brake with manual release delivers dependable load holding while allowing quick, safe brake disengagement for easier service, setup and equipment movement— useful for hoists, conveyors, tilt tables, or any load-holding/stop application.

Inverter Duty

All 3 phase motors are inverter duty per NEMA MG1 Part 31. Brake motors are optimized for variable speed operation maximizing performance by ensuring smooth speed transitions.

Integrated brake or kit

Simplifies design and installation: fewer external components, less wiring/space, reduced system complexity. A brakemotor is integrated or standalone modules that provide the engage/disengage (clutch) or stop/hold (brake) functions, either mounted to a motor or as part of a system.

Drop-in design

NEMA C-face and foot mount designs provide easier integration: For retrofits or new designs the standard motor/brake combos fit readily into existing frameworks or designs — reduces engineering custom time.

Versatile Options

Brake motors are offered in single- and three-phase designs, including general-purpose, washdown-duty, explosion-proof and models with a fan on the drive end.
