Shaft grounded
Baldor-Reliance shaft grounded motors protect against VFD-induced bearing damage, ensuring longer life and lower maintenance.
Built-In Protection for VFD-Driven Performance
Baldor-Reliance shaft grounded motors are designed to mitigate bearing damage caused by shaft currents commonly generated in variable frequency drive (VFD) applications. These motors feature an integrated shaft grounding device, typically a conductive microfiber ring or carbon brush, mounted directly to the motor frame. This device provides a low-impedance path to safely divert induced shaft voltages away from the bearings, reducing the risk of electrical discharge machining (EDM), fluting, and premature bearing failure.
Technical data
Proper motor grounding is essential to prevent premature bearing failure, avoiding costly maintenance and potential facility downtime. The most common and cost-effective method is a shaft grounding device mounted directly to the motor frame with a grounding brush or ring.
