ABB’s SP4 technology meets the NEMA Super Premium® efficiency level in a standard AC induction motor design operating across the line, independently of a variable speed drive, or higher when powered by a VSD.

There are more than 300 million industrial motor-driven systems in operation worldwide; and roughly 80% of motors still operate DOL (direct on line).

Lower energy costs

NEMA Super Premium® (comparable to IEC’s IE4 efficiency) can offer up to 40% lower energy loss in comparison with a NEMA standard efficient (IE2) induction motor.

Government compliant

Effective June 2027, Medium Electric Motors Rule driven by the Department of Energy will become effective. 100-250Hp industrial electric motor must increase to NEMA Super Premium /IE4 levels.
