FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes. UNITROL® 1000 is fully compliant with modern grid codes and was the first AVR globally to achieve certification for the one of the most stringent standard, the German grid code.
Indeed, UNITROL® 1000 became the world's first digital AVR component to be TÜV-certified for the German Grid Code VDE-AR-N 4110 and VDE-AR-N 4120 in 2019. This certification involved hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing, 3-phase and 2-phase fault ride-through (FRT) testing, and external measurement verification including simulation model validation by independent certification bodies.
UNITROL 1000 is widely used across a broad range of industries and applications:
- Power generation (land-based and offshore): Diesel and gas engines, gas and steam turbines, as well as hydro power plants
- Marine: Electrical propulsion systems, auxiliary power generation, dynamic positioning (DP) systems, and DC grid applications
- Data centers: Prime power and emergency backup solutions for mission-critical infrastructure
- Traction: Diesel-electric locomotives
- Heavy Industries: Synchronous motors fixed speed and cogeneration plants
- Variable-speed applications: Systems requiring stable and precise excitation control
Yes. UNITROL 1000 enables seamless parallel operation of multiple generators, ensuring stable and reliable performance in complex power systems. With proven reactive load sharing using standard reactive droop control or advanced Voltage Droop Compensation (VDC), it ensures precise load distribution, improved system stability, and optimized performance in both islanded and grid-connected applications.
