UNITROL® 1010 AND 1020
UNITROL 1010 and UNITROL 1020 are digital automatic voltage regulators for small and medium synchronous generators and industrial machines.
OVERVIEW
Manufactured using advanced microprocessor technology and IGBT semiconductors, both provide high performances in a wide range of temperature and vibration conditions.
With built-in dual channel support, advanced load sharing between machines operating in parallel, rotating diode monitoring, automatic synchronization and several integrated communication options, both AVRs provide fast response, simple integration and reliable performance for standard industrial, marine, diesel and gas generator applications.
UNITROL 1010 is a mid-range AVR suitable for a wide variety of applications, allowing current output up to 10 A DC for continuous operation.
UNITROL 1020 includes all functionalities of UNITROL 1010 and extends the current output up to 20 A DC for continuous operation, making it suitable for larger synchronous generators, motors and more demanding operating environments.
In addition, UNITROL 1020 offers extended functionality with strong protection and tuning capabilities, including a local HMI, Motor Excitation Start, data logger, event logger and time synchronization.

Motor Start Excitation
<p>UNITROL 1020 supports fixed speed synchronous motor excitation with a fully integrated start sequence. The excitation ON command is directly controlled by UNITROL 1020. Typically pre-selected via a digital input, the excitation is automatically released based on configurable machine current and speed conditions, ensuring a reliable and controlled startup process.</p>Data Logger and Event Logger
<p>Event logger up to 500 events stored on the non-volatile memory.</p> <p> </p> <p>Data logger: Up to 10 data logs stored on the device with up to 12 signals recorded by up to 8 different triggering events with a minimal sampling time of 5ms.</p>Redundant controller capabilities (Double Channel):
<p>UNITROL 1020 is provided by default with a software option that integrates supervision or monitor functions and redundant channel support for bumpless transfer in double channel systems. A double channel system has a main channel and a redundant channel which will significantly increase the availability of the whole power generation unit. </p>Voltage Droop Compensation (VDC)
<p>UNITROL® 1000 delivers precise reactive load sharing between parallel generators without compromising voltage stability. It maintains a constant 100% busbar voltage, ensuring optimal system performance in island operation. Using high-speed communication between AVRs, VDC eliminates the need for additional hardware like cross-current transformers. The result is simpler engineering, higher accuracy, and improved system reliability. Perfect for modern captive power plants and marine applications, VDC ensures stable operation even with multiple and differently sized machines.</p>PSS capabilities:
<p>UNITROL 1010 and UNITROL 1020 provide a comprehensive set of features supporting the integrated PSS2C in accordance with IEEE 421.5:2016. This includes an internal injection signal generator, a dedicated PSS tuning assistant with rotor frequency input and lead-lag adjustment, as well as easy to use frequency sweep measurement and comparison tool for efficient tuning and validation.</p>Integrated fast synchronization using analog speed-bias signal sent to speed governor:
<p>For standby and emergency power applications, synchronization time is critical. Utilizing an analog speed-bias output significantly reduces synchronization time compared to pulsed digital signals, ensuring faster and more reliable system response.</p>CERTIFICATIONS
