ACT WITH INTEGRITY
We act responsibly, are transparent, and hold ourselves accountable for our decisions and actions. We work only with partners who share our values and commitments.
We never tolerate or engage in fraud, bribery, or corruption.
We do not offer, give, request, or accept anything of value – directly or indirectly – to obtain an improper advantage, whether for personal or business reasons, even if such practices are permitted by local custom or law.
We do not make “facilitation” payments, for example, to a public or government official to speed up access to routine government services that we are entitled to. Personal safety payments are permitted only if there is a real and immediate threat to our personal safety. As soon as we are safe, we report the situation to our line manager.
We do not give or accept cash, cash equivalents, or leisure trips as part of doing business.
We avoid and disclose situations where our personal interests (might) conflict with those of ABB.
We avoid situations where there could be an actual or potential conflict between our interests and those of ABB.
We do not influence or take decisions on behalf of ABB where personal interests could affect our judgement. This includes decisions involving relatives, close personal relationships, or personal financial interests.
We avoid outside activities that interfere with our responsibilities to ABB or could damage the company’s reputation. We don’t do external work during ABB working hours or use ABB resources for such activities.
We disclose conflicts of interest early and truthfully in line with ABB’s processes and take action to address them.
We compete fairly and independently and comply with all antitrust and fair competition laws.
We respect laws prohibiting agreements or actions that restrict competition, including between competitors or with channel partners. We are aware that such laws impose greater restrictions on companies that hold a dominant position. Where required, we seek regulatory review or approval for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and collaborations and follow the applicable processes.
We comply with global trade and sanctions requirements.
We comply with all applicable trade laws, including sanctions, export and import controls, and customs regulations.
We assess cross-border transactions and, if necessary, escalate and address any uncertainty about our goods (exported or imported), parties, destination, or end use.
We ensure that all cross-border transactions are correctly classified and documented, use only vetted logistics and customs partners, and obtain all required government licenses or approvals.
We engage with governments to support ABB’s business objectives.
When interacting with public or government officials, policymakers, or regulators, we explain the value of our products and services truthfully and ensure that all information we provide is accurate and well-researched. We comply with all rules and laws governing lobbying, public procurement, and government funding.
We do not make financial or in-kind political donations or support political parties, candidates, or officials.
We do not offer gifts, travel, or hospitality to public or government officials to influence decision making.
We work only with partners who share our values and commitments.
We expect all our partners to comply with applicable laws. To manage risk and keep our value chain strong, we work only with partners who share our values and commitments to ethics, human rights, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainability.
We expect our partners to report to us any actual or potential violations of laws or our Code of Conduct, Human Rights Policy, or the Supplier Code of Conduct. We make sure our partners are aware of the ABB Speak Up Helpline and that they collaborate on improvements and corrective actions if problems are identified.
