With 1800 employees in 22 locations, ABB plays a significant role in supporting UK industries – all the more so as the British government has committed to achieving ambitious renewable energy targets¹.
Across a wide range of market sectors, we supply around £0.5bn of innovative solutions, products and services to UK partners every year.
Our collaborations are diverse, drawing on technologies from our electrification, robotics, automation and motion portfolios, to help our partners operate more efficiently and more sustainably.
Signature projects and cross-country support across multiple industries
Ahead of this year’s London E-Prix – the last Season 11 event – we’ve focused on our role in delivering power from the world’s largest offshore wind farm, located at Dogger Bank off the UK coast; how we’re electrifying UK port and ferry operations and how we’re providing the background technology to support innovative research into electrified propulsion systems.

In addition to these signature projects, we’ve worked with UK industries, both traditional and cutting-edge, to share our technological expertise in a constantly evolving marketplace.
The potteries of Stoke, in north-west England, have benefitted from adding our robots to the production line of a premium ceramics manufacturer, while in Scotland, our smart building solutions are helping Edinburgh to meet 2030 net-zero targets.
In Wales, our control system oversees the operation of the barrage and locks at Cardiff Bay – one of the largest engineering projects ever undertaken in the UK.

And at the British Airways Flight Training Centre near London’s Heathrow Airport, our drives have reduced noise in flight simulators, promoting an environment that more closely replicates that of real aircraft.
