SERVICE OVERVIEW
ABB MarineCare Service Agreements are designed to deliver predictable total cost of ownership (TCO) while maximizing vessel uptime, safety and lifecycle performance. By aligning maintenance activities with the equipment lifecycle, ABB helps shipowners move from reactive repairs to planned, condition-based vessel maintenance services.
Through a modular, long-term service agreement, ABB MarineCare combines global technical support, expert planning and digital insights to reduce unplanned downtime, stabilize maintenance costs and simplify fleet operations; all supported by a single, trusted marine service partner.

A dedicated ABB account manager acts as the main point of contact and ensures efficient access to ABB services. The account manager provides a consistent interface for contract-related matters. Regular review meetings support structured communication between the customer and ABB.
Defined response times ensure prompt problem resolution when technical support is required or when a service engineer must be dispatched within an agreed timeframe. Depending on the contract level, customers receive priority handling and shorter response times for maintenance and upgrade activities.
On-call services support the resolution of unexpected equipment failures, system stoppages or irregular operation requiring immediate action. An ABB service engineer is dispatched within a predefined timeframe to restore equipment operation.
Unlimited access to ABB’s Global 24/7 Technical Support Center is provided via telephone or email. ABB engineers assess failure situations, perform root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions to minimize downtime and off-hire events.
Remote Diagnostic Services provide rapid access to ABB expertise while reducing the need for on-site visits. Secure remote access enables fault analysis and troubleshooting by ABB specialists, supporting efficient vessel operations and reduced operational costs.
ABB provides immediate response in technical support and on-call situations. Engineers can be stationed onboard or at a nearby port to perform or supervise maintenance, repair and on-call activities with minimal interruption to operations.
ABB delivers classroom and onboard training based on jointly agreed objectives. Service performance and progress are evaluated using defined KPIs. Training supports safe operation and effective use of ABB marine systems.
ABB e-learning modules support crew competence development through self-paced training. Courses include product fundamentals, virtual instruction and assessments, forming a foundation for in-house maintenance and operational support.
Site surveys are conducted to assess equipment condition and system performance. ABB analyzes installation status and lifecycle condition, providing recommendations to support maintenance planning, upgrades and dry-docking preparation.
Condition monitoring supports preventive maintenance while equipment remains in operation. Mechanical and electrical parameters are monitored to identify trends, support long-term upgrade planning and improve predictability of maintenance budgets.
ABB coordinates planned maintenance activities, including material delivery and scheduling of service engineer visits. A long-term maintenance approach supports predictable costs and reduced unplanned maintenance actions.
At contract initiation, ABB and the customer define availability objectives and KPIs. Service delivery and performance are reviewed regularly to ensure contractual commitments are met.
ABB provides recommended and critical spare parts lists for equipment covered by the service agreement. Priority handling of spare parts inquiries supports fast processing and delivery.
ABB manages spare parts inventories in accordance with the service agreement. Inventory levels can be located onboard or onshore, adjusted based on equipment scope, audited periodically and replenished automatically when required.
