At ABB we attach great importance to protecting the customer’s investment. An important element is providing upgrades to existing systems. This can be a software upgrade on the original hardware, or a complete system upgrade including new hardware, thereby adding new functions and increasing the performance of your existing systems with the retention of existing data.

 

We follow a strategy of ensuring a continuous upgrade path for our systems. This includes not only additional software functionality but also the transfer of existing data to the new system. The continuous upgrade path of ABB's MPS Production press management system is well over 35 years long. This is just one example of ABB's commitment to protecting the investment of its customers.

We offer two categories of service agreements.

 

SupportLine

 

We offer SupportLine contracts that provide the customer with world class customer support on our 24x365 SupportLine number

Support by telephone or remote VPN connection is available to contract holders 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Support from a highly qualified engineer is guaranteed within a call-back time of maximum 1 hour, normally much quicker.

 

Maintenance Contracts

 

We offer software maintenance contracts that include:

• Free minor software release updates
• Discount for major release upgrades and training
• Migration planning
• Full SupportLine coverage

The hardware components manufactured by ABB have been designed and produced to ensure the longest possible lifetime of the components and the systems based on them. ABB parts remain in production for typically 5 to 7 years and are used for all new installations during this period. Parts which are no longer in production and no longer used in new installations are transferred to service status for 10 years. ABB spare parts are therefore available for at least this period of time.

 

Our solutions are based as far as possible on standard ABB components that are available around the world from either ABB or third-party sales channels. Our customers are free to buy spares wherever the wish.

ABB Printing and the ABB University provide training courses graded to suit the individual needs of production managers, printers and maintenance personnel, thereby enhancing the performance of our customers’ personnel. Both standard and tailor-made courses are offered.
