ABB delivers stylish design to spectacular hotel on Sweden’s High Coast
The newly opened Hernö Gin Hotell has become a striking landmark in Härnösand. Created by the world’s most awarded craft gin distillery, this luxury destination demanded exceptional quality and attention to detail. For its electrical installations, the hotel selected ABB's Impressivo switch series – a stylish, modern and durable choice built to last.
A premium experience in the heart of Härnösand
Set along the scenic High Coast in a prestigious Norrland building, the Hernö Gin Hotell brings world-class hospitality to the heart of Härnösand. Designed to elevate the guest experience, the hotel combines timeless Scandinavian interiors with cutting-edge technical installations. Every switch and socket throughout the building – all in a sleek black matte finish – comes from ABB's Impressivo switch series.

Built on collaboration
Hernö Gin began as Sweden’s first craft gin distillery 14 years ago. Today, as the world’s most award-winning, it’s a global name, attracting visitors from around the world. As demand for premium accommodation in Härnösand grew, the team behind Hernö Gin partnered with local electrical contractor Säbrå El and supplier Elektroskandia to bring their hotel vision to life. ABB supplied the switches, sockets and junction boxes via Elektroskandia, ensuring seamless delivery and installation.
Design that performs
With 122 rooms across nine floors and breathtaking sea views, the hotel’s design draws from the surrounding nature. The interiors feature warm tones, natural materials, and high-end finishes – from copper-toned lighting to matte black switches from ABB.
“We looked at what products other high-end hotels were using. Impressivo stood out for its quality and design,” added Robert Larsson.
“A key factor in our decision was durability – ABB's black components are scratch resistant,, unlike alternatives which wear down quickly in demanding hotel settings and require replacements after three or four years.”
Function meets form
Manufactured at ABB's Mission to Zero factory in Helsinki, Impressivo products combine aesthetic appeal with practical benefits – including ease of installation and wide configuration options. The hotel features a full range of components from the series, including switches, sockets, data outlets and underfloor heating thermostats. ABB even arranged custom deliveries for items like black Room with WC (RWC) alarm panels that weren’t initially stocked in Sweden.
Impressivo’s design is also appreciated by architects and interior designers.
At the beginning of the design process, the interior design team selected Impressivo wall sockets and switches for their clean, dust-resistant design – an essential feature in a hotel environment.
"Their ability to prevent dust accumulation makes maintenance easier and ensures a pristine look over time", says Patrik Näsman, Product Manager for Impressivo at ABB.
Smarter, faster construction
The short construction time was one of the major challenges in the building of the Hernö Gin Hotell. To streamline construction, Elektroskandia delivered pre-packed kits of accessories tailored to each room type – around 40 items per room. This reduced installation time significantly. “ABB ensured availability of stock throughout the project, so we avoided delays and kept the schedule on track,” says Johan Eriksson, Field Sales at Elektroskandia.
Project packaging also contributed to sustainability by minimizing transport and material waste.

ABB Impressivo
ABB has delivered products from the Impressivo switch series, including switches, wall sockets, data sockets and underfloor heating thermostats.
Impressive's wide range is well suited to apartments, villas, offices and hotels. The series is characterized by a luxurious, modern design with a velvety soft UV-resistant surface. Impressivo is available in four colors: white, anthracite, aluminum and matte black. The products are PVC and halogen-free.
For installers, Impressivo is a good choice thanks to its stable construction that reduces installation time. Impressivo also provides an unusually safe installation as the touch protection is integrated into the insert.
Säbrå El
